Company
History

Crave Productions was founded by queer, Latina, multidisciplinary artist Thalía González in 2017. The company is artist-led and focuses on creating new content, international collaborations, and exploring art that they crave to see. Crave creates multiple types of work from theatre, to podcasts, to cabarets. The company strives to navigate the complexities and intricacies of our lives in different societies and circumstances. Vital influences of the work we do include the exploration of self, discovering identity, reflecting on roots, and the complexities of our relationships with ourselves and others. Our first production was in 2018 at the Tarragon Theatre where we presented the world premiere of The ’94 Club, written by González. The show was recognized by NOW Magazine as one of the top theatre stories of the year and earned González an Artist to Watch award. 2019 saw the world premiere of the one-person show A Drunk Lesbian Love Affair, an official selection at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival where it was nominated for the Oscar Wilde Prize for New Writing. The show went on to be presented by the Swedish International Theatre Institute in Stockholm, and the New York-based Pride Plays where it was named an LGBTQIA+ work to watch by Playbill. After a brief pandemic pause, Crave co-produced the world premiere of 20 Minutes from Nowhere, written by Dublin-based artist Chris Kelly, in association with Bewley’s Cafe Theatre in Dublin, Ireland in 2021. In 2023, the company embarked on a six-city European and US tour to premiere the play At Birth, a show co-written by Thalía González and Atlanta-based multidisciplinary artist Ty Autry. 2024 saw the premiere workshop presentation of the play The Anatomy Lesson, a new play by González, which was programmed as part of the CAMINOS Festival, curated by Aluna Theatre in Toronto, Ontario.
